STATEMENT FOR APPLICANTS TO THE PRACTICE OF THE LAW AND NOTARY PUBLIC

I understand that the acceptance to, and graduation from, the Law School does not constitute nor guarantees my admission to practice the profession of lawyer. The Supreme Court of Puerto Rico is the only institution with the power to regulate the admission and the practice of law and notary public in Puerto Rico. I further understand that among the requirements, there is an evaluation by the Reputation Commission for the Practice of Law. To those ends, our highest judicial forum establishes the pertinent regulation. See, among others, “The Regulations for the Admission of Applicants to the Practice of the Law and Notary Public” of June 1998, as amended.

In addition to a bar examination there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Entiendo que la aceptación a, y graduación de, la Escuela de Derecho no constituye ni garantiza la admisión al ejercicio de la profesión de la abogacía.
